The adventure of faith and finances!

Lately we’ve really been having to put our faith into action where our finances are concerned, well actually since we started the business in Feburary it's been a bit of an adventure, but God has been soooo faithful! Even though I know it’s an awesome test of our faith, and most of the time I'm quite comfortable with that, in fact I enjoy it, I have to admit I don’t always see it as ‘awesome’! In fact, knowing we’ve got certain deadlines coming up you could say I’ve been a little anxious lately! A simple comment from another blogger – (Linny from A place called Simplicity) has really ministered to me and made me remember that while I can strive to do all I can in my own human strength I can’t let that consume me, I can’t let situations consume me, there has to be a balance of faith and action and I probably got a bit overwhelmed with feeling I had to be doing the action part that I let the faith based action slip some. Sometimes after doing all we can we need to stand back and trust that "God has your back". So I’ve been reminding myself the last few days “God’s got your back”. And to prove it, He’s really been coming through!!

Yesterday morning I was praying Gods provision over our situation and specifically prayed that we wouldn't lack for food along with work to come in. Probably an hour or two later we got a phone call from a friends mum saying two people from her church had dropped off meat and fresh fruit for us – how cool is that? It doesn’t stop there though!

We got a call a couple of days ago from a lady looking for someone to do some hedgetrimming for her (nothing too miraculous about that, other than the fact that we haven’t had anyone ring for weeks!) – but get this, her husband saw an ad in a local newspaper and told her to ring and get them round. Next day, the wife couldn’t find the paper so looked up the company in the phone book and rung US thinking we were the company that advertised – we have never advertised in the paper! We have yet to see if the quote turns into work but it’s a start!

Then today, Josiah was telling us about George Mueller (amazing missionary) and how he and his wife prayed every morning for what they needed and God just provided. “We should do that Mum, just pray for what we need and God will provide!” He told us about ways God provided really miraculously and creatively – we love stories like that! The kids then started on with “wouldn’t it be cool if someone wanted to pay $1,000,000 for our house so we could do heaps more stuff in Uganda” and other stuff just as exciting! We got on to talking about how we’d much rather be living the adventure of faith and finances and have to utilize our faith, than to not lack for anything and not get to see God step in and move miraculously. Only a few hours later I took a phone call from someone that had just gotten one of our fliers in his letterbox and wanted some work done asap (again VERY exciting to get a phonecall!). I took his address and there is NO WAY we did a letterbox drop anywhere near his street, in fact we’ve only done one letterbox drop in the last couple of months and it was a good 5 minutes drive from where he lives. DON’T YOU LOVE IT!!!! Man I love it how God not only provides, but He does it in a way you can’t doubt that it’s God! Stuff that builds the kids faith sky high! As well as mine!

Whatever you’re going through, believing for or facing today, remember “GOD’S GOT YOUR BACK”.
