Capture life 365–week 44

Picking flowers to brighten the room for someone moving in. I love how my girls love making things look pretty!Making sure the colours in her scripture verse coordinate with her top. We wouldn’t want them to be mismatched! Eight year old cuteness!Looking for verses to turn into artwork – makes memorising scripture fun & decorates the house at the same time!

Taking a new bow he made for a test drive. Yep, it works – can go to its new owner now! Note Pete’s super cool footwear – just email him if you want the latest fashion tips.

Working on the second couch.…and the finished product! Thanks to recyling old timber, 2 spare mattresses, 2 fitted sheets we already had & re-using some cushions off the back of the old couches, the total cost of materials for both was under $70 – excluding fabric to recover the cushions one day. We made them the size of day beds, so they can double as spare beds if needed & it makes them super comfy to laze on! Thanks boys, I love them! You’ll make a wife proud some day!  Dusting off our New Zealand scenery book – getting excited about our upcoming trip!

Friendly father-son competition

Friends (that we’re pretending aren’t really going to be leaving soon) offered to have ALL six of our kiddos as well as a bunch more over for a movie night meaning we could go out! Child free! Turned into a spontaneous and fun double date night! These gorgeous lanterns lined the pathways where we ate. I might just be a little obsessed with lanterns.

Oh how our life is full of extremes – one day drying beans for lunch and the next sitting beside a beautiful pool celebrating birthdays feeling like we could be anywhere in the world. Yes, it does my head in regularly and no, I don’t know who the dude sipping his coffee in the background is. At least the guy wearing undies didn’t walk past when I took the shot.

No public swimming pools here & if you swim in the lake you have to take strong medication for the serious illness it carries, but a few hotels will let you pay to just swim – awesome relief on hot days!

We joined forces with another family to have a pool party to celebrate their daughters birthday and Joe’s upcoming 18th! I feel waaaay too young to have an 18 year old, but apparently it’s set to happen on Tuesday whether I’m ready or not!

Things that made me smile…

Walking past the house and seeing these feet hanging out the window while doing school…

Finding little reminders to pray throughout the house, put up by the littlest family member…Seeing this one taking his test – pencil, paper & cow horn…

Watching my man confirm why the taps are refusing us…

Knowing the rain water tank means we still have a way to get water without walking too far, even if it’s home to tadpoles and mosquito larvae…

The opportunity to learn to rely more on God and less on myself…

Wouldn’t have seen this beauty if I didn’t have to collect water…

Waking up to the remnants of an unfinished Take 2 game from the night before…

Discovering this incredible gold insect - who can deny God exists when faced with such exquisite beauty. I don’t know what it’s called, but I’m going with the ‘bling bug’… Best mothers day gift ever…!

Nature journals resurrected – sketching under the shade of a tree

Looking for alternative drivable routes through flooded roads to get to the dentist who comes once a week.

Impromptu P.E class… High jump – Gordon style! No rules. Inventing our own ‘special’ techniques. Yeah – we’re all class!

You can never tire of the beauty of daily village life – the colours, the activity, always something different going on… Saw a huge pig on a motorbike go past the window outside church today – true story!
