I’ve finally caught up! You don’t know how good it makes me feel to be up to date! Anyway, here’s the actual real life week we’ve just had!Dusty dog got himself into a bit of a situation. For a while we thought he might have to become Uganda’s first astronaut dog, which would’ve made us quite proud - but 30 minutes later Riana managed to work his head out of the container (which we did put breathing holes in to prevent a dire emergency).Just 30 minutes after sorting out Dusty’s dilemna, Lily had her own little situation arise. Her wind up flashlight she reads with in bed, wound it’s way into her hair. This time she thought to ask for help before pulling out large clumps of hair – progress from last week.
Somehow, one of these magically appeared on my pillow each night that Pete was away. I definitely got myself a keeper all those years ago!
Conversations over the fence with the neighbours kids while simultaneously trying to work out how to convince both them and me that we need to buy their kitten. Their scheming was unsuccessful.
My first game of blind mans’ bluff in the dark in about thirty years. Stunning photo I know. About as exciting as the game. The picture below makes it look much more fun. My kids would never stand in front of me snickering, they all inherited super advanced hiding abilities from their dad making it just.a.little.bit.boring for whoever’s hunting.
Rainbow shield bug. And because I am super intelligent know how to use google – it’s scientific name is Calidea dregii. Yep, we get all the cool bugs.Another lantern lit dinner – if we’d known it was going to take Pete six hours to get home instead of the expected three, we would’ve eaten while it was still light instead of waiting in hope to eat it with him!Glad to have this alternate route to our house for rainy days when our road is too bad to drive on……though we sometimes have to battle heavy traffic!
Drew came up with a genius way to make his own iron forge. Charcoal stove and inflatable mattress pump! He’s been making quite a few knives lately – this one from an old file.Several hours later, he’s still at it with his trusty assistant. No comments about his safety shoes please. Or gloves. Or goggles. I don’t think any body parts were injured during the making of his knife.
Celebrating New Zealand fathers day with a pancake breakfast made by our favourite dad!We found an Entebbe artist doing awesome free face painting in the afternoon, so Lily got herself turned into a most gorgeous butterfly!Josiah and Drew combined their graphic design and arrow making skills to make Pete this cool fathers day gift. The six arrows in his quiver. A post will be coming soon with a free downloadable printable if you want to make your own!
