OK – as much as I don’t like them, mosquitoes are now part of my daily life! As I was hiding under the sheet in bed last night avoiding the attack of the mosquito that had somehow gotten into our net God showed me a few things I could learn from the pesky mosquito. Yes. Learning from a mosquito – what has my life come to?!
These horrible creatures are the most perseverent things I’ve met. When there seems no way at all to get inside of a mosquito net, they’ll find a way – somehow. Now our net is good (unlike one of the girls ones we had to replace when Charlotte woke up looking like she had chicken pox!) We don’t have holes in our net, yet they will wait & wait for an opening or somehow find their way in. And when they get in, theres no “whew, made it – think I’ll have a little rest on the side of the net now”. No, it’s straight to work, trying to find some skin, and despite me feeling like I was swatting that wretched mosquito away all night it didn’t give up. Came straight back for more. In fact, I think it might have enjoyed the challenge! A mosquitos goal is to touch you, draw blood & exchange it (with your blood mixed with it’s saliva!). When you’ve been touched by a mosquito, there’s no denying – it leaves a mark, you can feel it. Some people are more sensitive to their ‘bites’ than others. For some, one bite will affect them for days, and others may need a few to even know they’ve been touched.
I never thought the day would come when I wanted to be like a mosquito, but there it is. I want to daily draw on the blood of Jesus and the forgiveness He offers through the work He did on the cross. When he could’ve said “no”, He could’ve said “Whew, those last 3 years were hard work, I’m going to take it easy now”, He persevered to make a way for us to exchange our sins for his forgiveness, have relationship with him and fully experience His incredible love. So now I shall persevere. Easy times, tough times. Looking for a way even when there seems no way, I’ll keep looking for a way for God to leave a mark on people that they can’t deny, and keep praying that they too will want to draw on the forgiveness found in Christ and make that beautiful exchange.

WOW, Danielle! How inspiring - and true!
And - I was thinking - even though we sometimes feel as tiny and insignificant as a mosquito in light of the need around us (what difference can WE make, we wonder?), a tiny mosquito can make a BIG difference - haha!!
Praying for protection for your whole family from these bothersome critters and the diseases they carry.
Much love,
Isabel
