Jed saves the day!!

Us Gordons had a bit of excitement today! We were outside supposedly doing schoolwork, enjoying the gorgeous day when the story unfolds... Josiah had asked Jed to go inside and get his flywheel from his room (I don't know how that was going to help him with his language, but anyway), he comes back outside and tells Josiah the house is full of smoke. Joe checks it out and tells me that Yes, the house is full of smoke! I (being the very brave, strong, zena type super mum) go in to investigate. And yes, the house is full of smoke! It took a while (probably 10 secs real time, 3 mins slow motion time) to find where the smoke was coming from. The evidence is below - it's also still stuck to my stove! I found the naughty chopping board on the element - which apparently no-one turned on just as it was starting to burst into flame. Being a bit of a super hero type myself I quickly grabbed the part that hadn't burned and put it in the sink. We then pretended the house was really on fire, all going to our bedrooms and practising crawling on the floor under the smoke to get to meeting place by the pond - smoke alarms screaming, kids excitedly escaping while covering their mouths and noses! Then the questions started.... What if the house was on fire for real and I was on the 100th floor with my baby sister and we couldn't go down the stairs, should we jump out the window?
